Testing requirements for promotion to 9th Geup High White Belt
Patterns
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the two
pattern exercises.
Kicks
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the
following kicks with both the left and right leg;
- Front Rising Kick (rear leg from a Walking Stance)
- Front Kick (lead leg from a Walking Stance)
- Front Kick (rear leg from a Walking Stance)
- Front Kick (lead leg in a stepping motion from a Walking Stance)
- Side Piercing Kick (to the side from a Sitting Stance)
Techniques
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the
following techniques;
Ho-Sin-Sul (Self Defense)
A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the following Ho-Sin-Sul (Self Defense) techniques on both your left and right side;
- A basic understanding of middle section pressure points
- At least two releases from a single straight grab to the wrist
- At least two releases from a single cross grab to the wrist
- At least two releases from a double-handed grab to both wrists
- Break Falls on both the right and left sides from a position laying on the back
- Forward Somersault from a kneeling position
Breaking
There are no
breaking requirements for 9th Geup High White Belt, however, the
Test Board may allow the testing candidates to demonstrate a foot break on 1"
pine boards. Breaks will be selected by the testing candidate and/or
specified by the test board.
Training Expectations
Training expectations for the Chang Hon Kwan Taekwon-Do class are as follows:
Active workouts in approximately 8 classes at a 9th geup High White Belt level;
Active workouts in approximately 3 classes in the two weeks just prior to the next testing;
Students work out on their own outside of class on an average of two hours/week during this time.
Tournament competition
Although Tournament competition is not required at this level, it is recommended
that you attend a tournament to observe the various levels of competition. This
will prepare you for participation in future tournaments as part of the
requirements for more senior rank promotions.
Rank Promotion Testing
The actual requirements AT testing for 9th Geup will consist of a physical test
and an oral examination. The physical test will consist of a demonstration of
the pattern exercises
Four-Direction-Punch and
Four-Direction-Block, as well as random elements of
Taekwon-Do selected by the test board. These random elements
will be selected to include requirements learned at this level (listed above).
The oral examination will consist of random questions covering required knowledge
learned at this belt rank.
